Creating an account is not required and you can still use almost all of our features. We recommend creating an account to make sure that you never lose your tree count or settings and so that you can use Tero across different devices. Only our cashback functionality requires an account.

No. Most companies that advertise with us have paid our ad network for a spot, which means that we do not choose the specific ads ourselves. The funnel goes: Company --> Ad Network --> Your Tabs. We have filters in place to ensure ads are family-friendly. However, ads sometimes get miscategorized and leak through our filters. Tero is a privacy-friendly startup that only collects the data needed to run and improve our service. For example, we do not create user advertising profiles depending on web behaviour.

The little personal data we do collect, such as your email if you create an account, is fully encrypted such that not even our team can see it. We use analytics tools such as Amplitude to collect crucial information such as how many users we have, in what countries, and what features they use. This is all collected as anonymous aggregate data, meaning there is no way for us to link any data back to a particular user.

No. What you do online is your business and yours alone.

No. We do not collect any data regarding what you search online. The search bar on our extension simply provides a shortcut to your preferred search engine. If you wish to know more about how your data is being collected and used, we suggest you visit the privacy policy page of the specific search engine you are using.
